Dour Festival 2022

Dour , the festival where in 2017 concert and festival photography all started to make much more sense to me. It paved the way and opened doors for so many other things in my photographic journey and adventures. After having experienced this alternative music fest countless times myself, I got the opportunity thanks to one of the Stage Managers to start photographing it for many consecutive years. So it’s almost needless to say that this event will forever hold a very special place in my heart with a somewhat romantic and emotional significance to it. Going back there after three years of absence was a very special experience. Not only because I apparently forgot how many miles it requires you to walk (sorry, it had to be mentioned :-D ) but also for seeing back so many familiar faces. The festival in itself changed drastically over the years, with a new venue, new musical directions, etc,….). Whether the evolution on these different levels went the right way or not is a question of taste and preferences. Personally I ‘m not fully behind the direction some things are headed, but from a photographic and content creator point of view, it’s an overwhelmingly cool and fantastic event to cover. It’s one of those events you want to go back to every year.
